2003-08-10 05:52:00 Hi there - have recently upgraded RAM from 256mb DDR SDRAM to 512mb
DDR SDRAM (replaced single stick of 256mb with single stick of 512mb Kingmax brand so no problem with compatibility). When running the memory read benchmark test under Aida32 the results have slowed down with the increased RAM installed. Is this normal?? What actually governs the memory read speed??

2003-08-10 09:53:00 your new ram may have slower memory timings eg its running at cas3 instead of cas2. what does aida say its timings are ? tweak'e (174)
2003-08-11 10:09:00 Hi there - According to Aida the highest CAS latency is 2.5 (5.0 ns @ 200 MHz). Is that good or bad and should I care?? I've got no idea what CAS latency is and I suspect I don't need to know. Thanks for your response. dadzka (3499)
2003-08-11 11:02:00 all depends on what its actually at. i have no idea what speed your ram is in your system ;-) tweak'e (174)
