166761 2003-08-11 07:07:00 Hi, I'm shopping around for a sound card and my local shop has 2 cards available. They are:...............

Sound Blaster SE 5.1 and a
Genius Sound Maker 5.1

I only really want the card to hook up some speakers to get good sound out of my DVD-ROM.

Which one is better? The Genius one is heaps cheaper, so is it any good?

Any info would be great.

Thanks

How much are you wanting to spend?

166763 2003-08-11 08:55:00 You can order a new sound card from an online dealer yourself or get your local shop to order if you wish to have more choice. Have a look at www.pricespy.co.nz to see what is available. tommy (2826)
166764 2003-08-11 10:02:00 I Remember I compared those 2 cards ages ago from their website..... according to memory, i think soundblaster is slightly better..... y dont u spend a little bit more money and get audigy instead? Blue_face (1148)
166765 2003-08-11 10:20:00 Oscar, go with the Sound Blaster. They've been consistently good for years.

You can get a SB 5.1 card for around $30 if you shop around.
