1344463 2013-06-01 07:50:00 I just opened it up and seen this sk69ersnz (13476)
1344464 2013-06-01 08:32:00 It is a Gigabyte GE-C420N-C2.

What would be a good unit to replace it that's not to pricey

1344465 2013-06-01 08:56:00 It looks like adhesive to secure the toroids. If it is hard and the PSU works I wouldn't be worried, but I wonder why you opened it up ? Terry Porritt (14)
1344466 2013-06-01 09:05:00 The pc kept turning itself off.Eventually the lights started flickering and then the fans ran very slowly and there was a lot of noise coming from the back.
Now there is nothing at all apart from a little green light on the motherboard.

1344467 2013-06-01 09:23:00 If you have a multimeter then it would be a good idea to check the voltages, following the guide set out here for example:

pcsupport.about.com

If not then all you can do is to test by substitution of the PSU and or motherboard, else get someone to look at it.

1344468 2013-06-01 09:32:00 I'm pretty sure it's stuffed.Poor thing was clogged with dust and with burn marks around the case.
My old pc is on loan at the mo so I'll hopefully get that back tomorrow to change PSU.

1344469 2013-06-01 10:07:00 The white stuff, as already mentioned, is OK.
I think though the problem is the bulging caps in the lower left of the photo.
Probably not worth trying to get them replaced (There may be more that aren't showing in the photo), just buy a new PSU.

1344470 2013-06-01 10:23:00 Thanks for clearing that up.I'm looking at this at the moment.Basically the same PSU as the one in my old PC.

1344471 2013-06-01 13:42:00 I see bloated Teapo trash.

Replace them and it might be OK, the build quality doesn't look too bad otherwise.

Another cheap branded PSU and it's 2nd hand. That's just asking for trouble, wouldn't be surprised if it also had capacitors on the way out.

Either buy something brand new that's good quality, or do a recap of your old one. That way you'll know the thing is at least half-decent.

1344472 2013-06-01 21:40:00 I have looked on the Ascent website but there are so many.
This is what I have so far

I forgot to mention that this is a friends computer. It has an Asus M2N68-AM PLUS motherboard running onboard graphics.
The current PSU has a 20+4 pin.
I'll chuck a photo on of the case so you can see how much room there is.
