167448 2003-08-13 08:44:00 I am running Windows 2000. Everything else seems fine, but OE6 takes 45 sec to 1 min to open everytime. Otherwise it works OK. I checked all the other info on this site on this topic, but no answers to be found there. Any ideas?

167450 2003-08-13 21:19:00 Hi Jim

The only possible cause looks like a corrupted Imagehlp.dll file. I have another one of these on my Windows 2000 disk, but cannot delete the one in my system in order to replace it. How can I delete and replace the file with the one on my CD?

167451 2003-08-21 11:13:00 ive got XP and the same thing happens to me. there doesnt seem to be any way of avoiding it. who cares anyway? agent_24 (4330)
167452 2003-08-21 11:46:00 my advice is get rid of oe6 & use eudora. it's a lot more user friendly & reliable clearview (1550)
167453 2003-08-21 20:39:00 i'm same as agent.
Have XP pro - OE6 takes up to 2min to open.

167454 2003-08-21 22:51:00 Someone posted on here not long ago that if you put /prefetch:1 in the Target line in the OE shortcut it speeds up the opening of OE.

Therefore the Target line should look something like this:

"C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe" /prefetch:1

My OE never took very long to open but with this "fix" it opens almost instantly now. Running Win XP with SP1.

Does that work in Win2K?

I cant find a Prefetch folder anywhere on my 2K system?

167456 2003-08-22 03:34:00 I tried the prefetch thing on Win 2000. It didn't help. soifboyd (4401)
167457 2003-08-22 05:50:00 I am not sure that the prefetch trick works in anything other than Win XP. The original thread about it is here (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz). Susan B (19)
