167780 2003-08-14 11:23:00 Hi All,

I've been through countless scanners - new and used, flatbed and film scanners, SCSI scanners, USB scanners, and have almost given up hope of ever finding one capable to simply turning a slide into a digital image.

My latest attempt at a scanner that works was the Genius HR6X... This has a slide adapter, and I am using it as according to the instructions, scanning into photoshop.

However, what comes out looks NOTHING like what goes it. The colours are drab, the image is out of focus, and the matching is atrocious. I calibrated my monitor etc and tried to scan something simple for a direct comparison. I scanned the Windows XP Home OEM Pre-installation kit instruction leaflet. For those unfamiliar with this, it is the most vibrant yellow in god's creation. Needless to say, my scanner turned it out a lovely shade of mud-brown.

I tried doing what photoshop advises to correct a colour-cast, but this did nothing. I can't edit in photoshop back towards where it is supposed to be, because the image I start with is so bad.

There's gotta be something I haven't done, and someone's gonna tell me what that is I hope!

Thanks in advance!

Erin
