| 167650 | 2003-08-14 03:37:00 | Does anyone know where, if anywhere, in NZ I can find a place to host a website that generates approx 20gigs of data transfer a month at a resonable cost? I currently have a dedicated server in the USA that costs me about NZ$250.00/month, but I wish to server my sites up from a NZ server. Cheers. |

| 167653 | 2003-08-14 04:07:00 | Ok, firstly I apologise for my first posts lack of detailed info. Let me clarify my situation. I need more of a 'telehousing' solution where I can have full root access to a server which is solely set up for my use. In the States this is generally called a "dedicated server". I'm not sure of the terminology in NZ. Web hosting firms don't want to know me because of the high data transfer, and more importantly the load this site places on a server's CPU (loads of cgi generated pages etc). What I need is a server on a fast, reliable connection, which I will administer, allowing 20-30 gigs of data transfer a month. Hope this explains what I require a little better. |

I think it is called telehousing and colocation here in NZ Have a look at maxnet & quicksilver & see if it is what you are after www.maxnet.net.nz www.quicksilver.co.nz I will do a search & see what I can find & you might want to do is have a look at a few NZ web hosting companys & NZ ISP & see what they offer in the way of telehousing and collocation. |

| 167657 | 2003-08-14 06:16:00 | Someone I know "leases" servers from (I think) Maxnet, that are based in Auckland. Basically he can use as much or as little as he wants (including sub-hosting and what-not) and all he pays is the server (and connections) lease. It's not cheap, but would probably come into the same kind of price range as you're paying now, only it's definitely in NZ. Mike. |
