168084 2003-08-15 23:57:00 Yes you can run XP Home with that. Having that amount of RAM helps.

168086 2003-08-16 01:51:00 it will run fine just remember to install the latest patches I still prefer 98SE
uses less resources and isnt so bloated

168087 2003-08-16 02:25:00 Thanks to everyone. The reason for the question was that my new machine runs XP home and seems much more stable than the old one with 98SE, so I was considering changing that one to XP as well - and I think I will. I had checked the website - but wanted some _real_ opinion rather than that of MS. ;)

One other question (too idle to look somewhere else!) If I want to do a clean install with an XP upgrade CDROM, how is my u/g eligibility established?

168088 2003-08-16 02:32:00 During the installation process, you will be asked to insert your Win98 CD briefly. This is how it establishes your upgrade eligibility when doing a clean install. Jen C (20)
168089 2003-08-16 02:45:00 I had XP PRO running on my daughters PC, a P3 450 with only 64 megs of ram in it was a little slow needed more ram obviously you do need a large amount of HDD space thiough c: drive should be at least 5 gigs preferably larger kiwibeat (304)
168090 2003-08-16 03:05:00 I thought that would the u/g check - as I said, too idle to look elsewhere! I've got enough disk space - once I have rejigged my partitions with Partition Magic...

Thanks again
