| 167870 | 2003-08-14 16:48:00 | I have an HP DeskJet 970 printer and Win xp pro. I originally had the printer connected by serial cable and then wanted to change to USB. I had a lot of trouble getting it to work but after many attempts, fluked it to run ok. However, now every time I turn my computer on, I get: 1. a little message on the Task Bar saying " found new hardware". Close that. 2. a message from the 'Found New Hardware Wizard' saying "Cannot install this hardware - HP970 printer. There was a problem installing this hardware - specified port is unknown". Close that. 3. another Task Bar message saying "found new hardware - problem occurred during installation - may not work correctly". Thing is, the printer does work fine. I have looked under Printers in Control Panel and there is a check mark next to usb port. These messages are annoying more than anything else and I would appreciate any advice on how I can get rid of them, given that the printer is otherwise ok. |
