168342 2003-08-18 06:29:00 Why does your post make me think that you're a Paradise employee trying to get free advertising? somebody (208)
168343 2003-08-18 06:33:00 Some people are so, so suspicious. :)
I will answer on Steves behalf as he lives just round the corner, and say, "No he isn't"

168344 2003-08-18 06:37:00 Ok. But other people have been told off by the Moderators for advertising on here. somebody (208)

As Terry says "no I don't work for them,I just use their cable as a way to get on the net & do my email" ;)

If every isp did virus checking of emails that went through their servers it would certainly make a lot of virus's redundant.

Just my view & not necessarily the views of paradise.net or any of its employee's

Cheers Steve :D

168346 2003-08-18 07:07:00 Same e-mail as I got from Telstra-Clear, just about word for word. Pheonix (280)
168347 2003-08-18 07:21:00 Why don't they do it for free for all their customers - why should I pay more for what should be a standard service anyway? After all, doesn't ISP stand for internet SERVICE provider? It's in their best interest to do this so let them do it as a matter of course. andy (473)
168348 2003-08-18 07:42:00 Same as what Clear just emailed me. I wonder if I can opt out - I'd rather decide which emails are SPAM rather than have them block emails I actually WANT to receive (I've had spam blockers block genuine personal emails just because of a word or two).

I do also think it should be free to everybody, else what's the point. I'm on one of their cheaper plans because it's a cheaper plan - I don't want to have to pay extra for it.

Mike.

168349 2003-08-19 06:28:00 Doesn't Xtra provide free email virus checking? I'm sure quite a few other ISPs have similar services. somebody (208)
168350 2003-08-19 06:34:00 Just speculating here, as I dont really know, but as far as charging those using dial-up, and free for those with high speed, maybe it's a lot easier for ISPs like Paradise to have as many customers as possible on cable or ADSL, and thus reduce the large banks of 56K modems at their end?
