| 168263 | 2003-08-17 23:32:00 | Hi Team Several months ago I had a spate of "test" messages from an apparent Xtra email address. I notified abuse@xtra and they stopped, but they restarted on the weekend. I have notified Xtra again, but being a curious type, I was wondering if anybody else has received these particular emails. A copy is below along with the path data. Cheers Billy 8-{) :| -----Original Message----- From: okacad@xtra.co.nz [mailto:okacad@xtra.co.nz] Sent: Saturday, 16 August, 2003 2:22 PM Subject: test -------------------------------------------------------- Return-Path: <okacad@xtra.co.nz> Received: from mta4-rme.xtra.co.nz ([210.86.15.143]) by mta204-rme.xtra.co.nz with ESMTP id <20030816022553.IPFW21917.mta204-rme.xtra.co.nz@mta4-rme.xtra.co.nz> for <xxxxxxx@xtra.co.nz>; Sat, 16 Aug 2003 14:25:53 +1200 Received: from webmaster ([210.54.226.51]) by mta4-rme.xtra.co.nz with SMTP id <20030816022143.REFY1303.mta4-rme.xtra.co.nz@webmaster> for <xxxxxxx@xtra.co.nz>; Sat, 16 Aug 2003 14:21:43 +1200 (Yes, I did xxxxxxx my email addy before posting this :D) |

| 168264 | 2003-08-18 00:06:00 | Havn't had the type of message you describe, but a couple of times now I have had a message from the mailman at Xtra advising me that my e-mail to so and so had not been delivered because it contained a virus. The e-mail in question DID NOT ORIGINATE IN MY COMPUTER. I was informed by Xtra that this could be a worm in somebody elses computer that picked up my address in his address book and used it to hide behind. With all the technology available now why cant the experts find out who is perpetrating these crimes and really sock it to them hard. Maybe if we responsible computer users bombarded parliament with a concerted protest they would pass some legislation making it a crime of the first order for anybody hacking, inventing virus's, creating worms and other nefarious internet behaviour. That's my ***** for a Monday morning. Cheers all. |

| 168269 | 2003-08-18 08:17:00 | Got same Test message yesterday, afraid I just blacklisted and bounced it in Mailwasher Pro, did'nt log any details. If it arrives again will log details. I am also on Xtra. The message got bounced back OK as no unable to deliver message has been received. Frank. | FrankS (257) | ||
| 168270 | 2003-08-19 02:47:00 | The people that do these crimes are no doubt the antivirus and firewall companies trying to keep themselves in business. Who would know more about hacking a computer or making a virus than the people that write security software code, or even normal code? Probably 1/4 workers at Symantec or wherever write viruses in their spare time :) | PoWa (203) | ||
