168738 2003-08-19 13:18:00 I have AVG Free Edition on my computer (XP)
I have just tried to update it and it says there are some files missing and to contact the webmaster at Grisoft. When I tried to do this it says on the website that you cannot contact the webmaster for info on the FREE EDITION>

What next

168739 2003-08-19 21:12:00 Delete it, and do a fresh install. It's on plenty of cover CD's or direct from Grisoft.

168740 2003-08-19 21:24:00 If a reinstall doesn't work, something like this may be worth registering and buying the full version. That way you can get all the bells and whistles.

I run AVG free on my 98SE system and all works well when updating...?

168741 2003-08-19 22:30:00 Have you tried updating today? It keeps telling me that it can't contact the server. Must be busy, and I don't know of any other update sites. The main site doesn't appear to have updates - just the whole programme.

168743 2003-08-19 23:45:00 The main site only appears to offer a 2.38mb update. In the past I used "free.grisoft.cz" This is the site that update manager takes me to, but just realized that I have installed a firewall, and this could be stopping it connecting. Will turn off and try again.

168744 2003-08-19 23:56:00 Was the firewall - just D/L the latest OK. Only site that I denied access to recently was one offering me a "Tcpip Kernal Driver" whatever that is. Using "Kerio" and a quick look at google did say a few things about it.

168745 2003-08-20 04:17:00 go ahead, re-install a fresh one, its only around 3.5 meg just a little larger than an update anyway. Quit wasting your precious time in finding answers unless you're bored of course and like me enjoy playing detective where your puter is concerned dotcommander (4338)
