168762 2003-08-19 20:59:00 Hi Press F1
I often get customers who have bought PCs and are unaware that their OfficeXP media is important in case of a disaster. They then lose it as staff change in the office.
If they do not have an open license contract with Microsoft, does anyone know if there is a way to get new media from Microsoft if they still have the original invoice? I am guessing that they may have needed to record the License agrrement keys that appear when it is first registered. I will be contacting Microsoft to pursue this further.
Has anyone experienced this problem?
I am wondering if it is possible to claim the loss back from insurance?

regards

Marty

168763 2003-08-19 21:08:00 The media is unimportant, the license is the thing. I am not 100% sure but I would think it is okay to run off a copy of the disk for people in that situation who have the licenses.

Many OEM PCs don't ship with media, anyway.

I talked to Microsoft and it seems that as long as I have an invoice, they are able to provide replacement media
I will have to wait and see how it turns out
