| 169136 | 2003-08-21 04:23:00 | Hi Team Hot on the tail of my memory problems, I now have another issue with both my newly rehabilitated W2K box and Old Faithful, both involving Spybot V1.2. After getting the W2K box up and running again (thanks again B.M.) I decided to update Adaware as that was not current on my image and install Spybot as well. The Adaware update was OK, but after installing Spybot I tried to update the reference files. The list of files appears OK but when I try to download them Spybot decides to sulk and goes into "Not Responding" status. I tried it a couple of times then switched over to Old Faithful (W98) because I recalled some strange behaviour there last time I used Spybot. Sure enough, Spybot refuses to open to full screen and goes straight down to the whatchamacallit bar at the bottom of the screen where minimised programs hide. I remembered this once I saw it and recalled that on the previous occasion a bit of judicious clicking would finally bring it up to full screen, but not anymore! Ctrl-Alt-Del tells me it is not responding. (It is set to open in a normal window in the icon properties, but even switching to maximised makes no difference.) So, Spybot is not responding to update requests on W2K and not responding to maximise requests on W98 Is V1.2 a bit flakier that the previous iteration, and is anybody else experiencing these or similar problems? | 169137 | 2003-08-21 04:38:00 | Hi Billy Ain't computers fun :D With the Spybot hanging when trying to download the updates, there is a bit of a problem with the S&D servers. The help forum for S&D is getting a lot of comments about this as well, and the admin guys are now getting testy about it: <snip> Please be patient! You are not the only one trying to download these updates.... Give it time. Do something else. Don't think about the updates for a couple hours..... In short, be patient. The servers are swamped!!! How often will we have to say this and how many pinned topics will we have to make for people to understand that the problem doesn't lie with the updates themselves but with the bandwidth and the traffic generated by thousands (if not more) of people trying to update at the same time.... It happens every time there is an update issued. We all have had trouble getting the updates, but patience always rewarded us before. It is the same now. <end snip> You may find this (www.net-integration.net) helpful as well. It includes a direct link for the update. |

I think its just working in the background. Mine said it stopped responding, but when I clicked on it, a minute later the main program came up again. |

| 169139 | 2003-08-21 04:50:00 | No problems with the latest SpyBot on my comps. I downloaded some new program files and bug fixes the other day, possibly the bug fixes relate to your problem (catch 22). Might be simplist to uninstall both and apply fresh downloaded versions after cleaning out your caches, temp files, etc. Possibility is a firewall interupting your downloads are the programs otherwise doing their job?
