169042 2003-08-20 22:54:00 Hiya
am in the process of buying a stick of 512 DDR RAM
have several "Brands" to chose from like

TwinMOS
JetRAM
Generic
Transend
Nanya
Legend
Century
Micron etc..etc

All Ranging in price....
What brand should I look for? and what to totally avoid?

Thanks

169043 2003-08-20 23:17:00 I think twinmos is aimed toward budget users, kingston, mushkin and cosair are high end brands.

Don't rely on me, I'm only saying what I've heard from various places.

Do some research on google maybye :) U should find quite a bit of info.

Cheers

169044 2003-08-21 03:07:00 I would base my decision more on the warranty they come with.

Ideally get something with a "lifetime" warranty. Or atleast 5 years.

Although I've bought a couple of 1 year sticks in the past without problems.

I think that some might be a touch faster and better for over clocking.

169046 2003-08-21 03:42:00 Lifetime warranty chips go through more extensive testing, so your guaranteed they will work well. PoWa (203)
169047 2003-08-21 03:48:00 Are you adding to or replacing? If adding, get the same brand that you have allready installed.
