| 169024 | 2003-08-20 21:11:00 | Hi all, Friend and I are interested in starting up a business. We are going to sell computer parts (after buying wholesale). The problem seems to be, that you need a registered company in order to get some wholesale parts. Is there any way to get wholesale parts in without having to register a company? And more to the point, is there a distributor in NZ that would help, or does it have to be an overseas distributor. Thanks in advance, Zan. |

| 169027 | 2003-08-20 23:35:00 | No, GST registration doesn't come into action until yearly profits go above $40, 000. I am trying to get parts from: Asus (Mboard) (Vcard) Shuttle (Mboard) Soltek (Mboard) Adaptec (SCSI) IBM (SCSI) Tekram (SCSI) Acer (CD-ROM) (Scnnr) (Kboard) Aopen (CD-ROM) Mitsubishi (CD-ROM) Pioneer (CD-ROM) Sony (CD-ROM) Verbatim (CD-ROM) AOC (Monitors) Hitachi (Monitors) Philips (Monitors) Creative (Scard) (Speakers) Xnet (Ntwrk) Intel (Ntwrk) (Prcssr) Canon (Prntr) HP (Prntr) Aopen (Case) (CD) Icute (Case) Olympic (Case) (Scnnr) (Kboard) (Mice) Thermaltake (Case) AMD (Prcssr) Seagate (HDD) Western Digital (HDD) Logitech (Kboard) (Scard) (Mice) Microsoft (Kboard) (Sware) (Mice) Leadtek (Vcard) Powercolour (Vcard) Triplex (Vcard) Dynalink (Modem) Nokia (Modem) Norton (Sware) Via Maxtor (HDD) Fujitsu (HDD) Radeon (Vcard) SiS Nvidia (Vcard) Chaintek (Mboard) ASRock Lexmark (Prntr) Epson (Prntr) Canon (Prntr) Obviously, emailing all of the companies seperately isn't going to achieve anything, so that's why I'm looking for a distributor. I'm having a look at Dornwell, and I think we can probably go with them, thanks Elephant. |

| 169028 | 2003-08-21 00:15:00 | at the risk of being rude i sugest ou do your homework a little better on this. to trade with most wholesalers you will need to be gst registered reguardless of income. beaware that some of the bigger wholesalers won't trade with part timers or those who dont buy $$$$ of product per month. a few wholesalers you can try are - dove bbf tech pacific agate morning star the back of pcworld mag usualy has a few wholesalers adverts. where abouts in the country are you? |

| 169029 | 2003-08-21 00:41:00 | Just so you don't give the wrong impression, it is turnover . . . not profit that is limited . Again, do your homework , quote from IRD regards GST:- You must register for GST when you are conducting a taxable activity: that has produced a turnover (sales and income) of more than $40,000 over the last year (this month plus the previous 11 months) or that you expect to produce a turnover of more than $40,000 over the next year (this month plus the next 11 months) for which you indicate (eg, in a price list or an invoice) that the price includes GST . Notice the "OR that you expect to produce a turnover of more than $40,000 over the next year" Play by the rules, try dodgy stuff and IRD find out . . . you will then know what being in the sh*t is all about . |
