2003-08-21 08:34:00 | depends on what your existing sub is. a mate simply took out the sub speaker (ie left the amp intact) and connected his 12" sub (in its own box ) in place of the origanal sub. went ok however one thing to watch is most speaker are 8ohms while cars are 4ohms so it can cause the amp to die if cranked up to much. if you have 2 subs simply connect them in series to get around that problem.

2003-08-21 08:47:00 | Wow great thanks man!! Ill try it with one sub first then see how we go. What do you mean by "cause the amp to die", as in blow up and burn, blow a fuse, diode what? Is there any type of protection devices in the circuit? THANKS FOR THE HELP!

2003-08-21 10:46:00 | no...there is no protection devices in most pc speaker amps so go very easy on the volume control. pc amps are usually small cheapo things. | tweak'e (174) | |

2003-08-21 23:28:00 | Well just taken it apart and in the circuit there is a fuse, and a number of diodes!! Looks like I may not have to be sooooo careful now! (but still very careful.....) | Polk (1135) | |
2003-08-21 23:37:00 | the fuse will be on the power side. you can still blow the amp without blowing the fuse. be carefull exspecially if the amp is powered by 240v. | tweak'e (174) | |
| 169160 | 2003-08-22 03:39:00 | So i took apart my old sub and put in the two new subs in paralell (see, electronics tought me something!!) then hooked up 4 satellites (speakers) I already had via the old sub circuit so i now have 4.2 sound! (i think....Im not to hot in all the technical terms here people...) But man, this ROCKS!!!!! The walls rattle and my teeth are already starting to crack!!! Its AWSOME!!!!!
