169112 2003-08-21 01:08:00 Can someone reacommend good cheap case fans and a cpu fan fora 1600+ thats gona be real quite, i am soo sick of the noise sjbryce (2129)
169113 2003-08-21 01:34:00 Your power supply fan/s might be contributing to a fair bit of the noise. You could start there and look for a reasonably quiet PSU like Enermax. PoWa (203)
169114 2003-08-21 01:37:00 Quiet and cheap don't go together I'm afraid. Put "quiet computer" in Google, it will come up with a wealth of info. For instance:

Which I found on the very first site.

I'd seek out good quality quiet fans and not use cost as a criteria as fans are not that expensive anyway.

We're not all geek here, SKT - not everyone knows the difference between AMD and Intel, and which are quieter etc. Some people just go and buy a computer cause they want one (or if like my wife, cause it has a cool green case :D)

169118 2003-08-21 04:36:00 QuietPC NZ (www.quietpc.com) and Silent PC Review (http://www.silentpcreview.com/) are helpfull sites. If you are confortable with tinkering inside your PSU and your not conserned by warranty, you could replace the standard fan with a quieter one like a 80mm Panaflo FBA08A12L or an NMB B19.

For you CPU fan/HSF, look for any thing that runs below 24dBA (less is better) and has sufficient airflow to cool your CPU, normally expressed in cfm.
