169443 2003-08-22 02:22:00 Hi, does anyone have any idea why my internet connection keep disconnecting around 11.32pm every nite? Or earlier epending of day light saving month. I've rang my ISP and the only solution they can think of is noise on the line. But Telecom said the line is fine.

Sometimes when i connect to the internet, it showed as being "connected" but there are no data being transferred. Cold not surf the web or anything.

169445 2003-08-22 03:25:00 Do you have an alarm system in your house? If yes, is it monitored by any security company? My internet always disconnect at 12:45 because the alarm wants to dial out to see if it can connect to the security company. :)

Cheers

169447 2003-08-22 05:30:00 As above, do you have :
1/ Alarm system
2/ Sky (able to pay-for-view movies) ?
3/ The "poll people" (damn, can't recall name, but log your viewing habits.

Any of these can steal the line for calls.

169449 2003-08-22 06:13:00 yeah!! now i remember the security company guy rang (long time ago) and told me my alarm keep going off every nite!! SO i guess it must be the alarm. Weird, how do the alarm try to ring out?? So I guess there's no way to fix this problem then? amijinx (4450)
169450 2003-08-22 08:06:00 well.. i don't have any special security thingys...

If you know the company that installed the alarm get them around to change the settings so that it doesn't keep ringing out.

169452 2003-08-22 09:15:00 If its a monitored alarm, then the alarm will autodial every day to check that it still has communications.
It has nothing to do with the alarm being triggered or anything, its just part of the normal monitoring process.
