| 169356 | 2003-08-21 14:22:00 | I have a Gigabyte GA-8KNXP motherboard, and had previously this connection setup... 1 X 40gig Maxtor partitioned into a 10gig and 30gig partition. 1 X SATA WD 120gig partitioned into 2 X 40gigs and balance in another. 1 X Pioneer DV117 DVD-Rom 1 X Sony DRU500AX 1 X Asus 52X Writer The Maxtor was on 1st IDE channel (set as master), SATA drive on SATA mobo connection (obviously) and set as slave. The Sony DRU500AX was master on the same channel as the Asus52X writer (slave). That left the Pioneer, which I connected to the onboard Raid, but changed the Raid to detect as ATA in the bios. Now... I installed Windows 2000 Pro and relevant motherboard drivers... I installed Alcohol 120%, and found the buffers really fluctuating when trying to create images, etc... even CDex was struggling to rip music properly from the Asus Writer. I then thought about the ASPI layers, and installed the 4.71 version downloaded from Adaptec... this hasn't solved the buffer fluctuation problems... Everything was resolved when I changed all my CD / DVD roms/writers to the onboard raid controllers... why is everything working now through the onboard raid (set to view as ATA) as opposed to before when everything was set correctly on the IDE channels??? Anyone able to help me there?? Just curious... I don't really like looking at really long cables stretching from the drive bays all the way down to the bottom of the motherboard, that's all... Cheers, Lo. Thanks, Lo. |
