169220 2003-08-21 06:59:00 Hi, just trying to install a Game CDRom for my son on XP, can anyone tell me what I go into to play it in Windows 98.
I remember seeing it somewhere where you could change it.
Hope this makes sense

169221 2003-08-21 07:21:00 Umm ... no it doesn't make sense.

You are trying to install a PC game from a CD onto WinXP, but you want to play it in Win98? Are the PC's networked?

Perhaps you could elaborate a bit further :)

169222 2003-08-21 07:26:00 Ah, I get it now :D

You want to know how to play the game using the compatibilty option that XP has.

Installl the game, and on the desktop shortcut select properties. Then choose compatibility and choose which mode you want.

Hope this helps.

169223 2003-08-21 07:26:00 sorry
ok, I want to install a game which is for windows 95 or 98
it wont play on XP which I have.
Somewhere in XP you can install this in 95 or 98 format, which makes your computer think it has 95 or 98.
I have done this once before but cant remember where to go to change it

any clearer???

169224 2003-08-21 09:06:00 Hi starfish.
I am sure what Jen C has told you will help you with your problem, and is most probably the quickest. The following is the long way of doing it -
Using the Compatibility Wizard
Click on Start>Help and Support>Fixing a problem>Application and software problems, under Fix a problem click Getting older programs to run on Windows XP, then click the Program Compatibility Wizard link in the instructions. From here you simply follow the instructions in the wizard.

169225 2003-08-21 12:48:00 thanks, that problem is fixed.

Now another. I have another CD I want to install on WinXP. Doesn't seem to be installing.

The minimum requirements are Pentium 11 300

is this something completely different as it doesnt say anything about windows???

169226 2003-08-21 13:11:00 What is the name of this CD program? If it is a game, then a minimum requirement of a Pentium 2 processor would suggest that it is quite old (unless it is a very basic) game. Jen C (20)
