169594 2003-08-26 01:33:00 Orcon have the best value from an ISP charge perspective, if you don't need the huge data volumes that some P2P and avid downloaders seem to require.

Jetstream Starter with 5 GB International cap (Unlimited National) is $19.95 ISP charge (Plus $29.95 Telecom Jetsream Starter ADSL charge).

I am usually under 1 GB total data per month, of which about 300 MB would be International.

I still believe the "new" offerring from Telecom includes all data in the cap, not just International, just as their full speed ADSL does. No info has been seen to suggest otherwise yet.

169595 2003-08-26 15:19:00 Yeah, Orcon's deal must be about the least costly any ISP could go - I'm on it now and its great.

I don't do the p2p thing much, but I use the Net mega-lots, and the 5 gig cap is plenty for me including my online gaming

169596 2003-09-15 13:10:00 I've just been looking at getting Jetstream but at the price Telecom want for it it's just stupid.
With a bit of luck I found out about Walker Wireless's new wireless broadband service, $57+GST($65) per month, no data cap, 256k, they haven't got much coverage area yet but once they have I think Telecom should be quaking in their boots in Auckland at least, I didn't see how much coverage they have in other centres. I think I'll be waiting for my house to get coverage then I'm going broadband, as long as it's penguin friendly of course, must find that out.
The cost of theWalker Wireless modem is $499 but all you have to do is plug the bugger in, if you take into account the cost of an ADSL modem plus install and house wiring for Jetstream the cost differential is negligable *S*
