169584 2003-08-23 07:41:00 Paradise JetStart is 10Gb traffic limit (national charged at 1/10). You can read more about how thats allocated here (www.paradise.net.nz). One 10th is pretty much next to nothing anyway. e.g if you surf 10Gb of national, it only counts as 1Gb towards your monthly limit. For a list of Jetstart ISP's and their current rates etc, go here (dr-mission-series.7p.com)

I wrote to telecom as well with a few words of my own :) Sorry I did it last night and didn't keep a copy :| Anyway, I reckon if 1000 people write to them about this, they will definitely take some action. Give them some links to forums (like this one) where the subject is being discussed. Call it orbital bombardment. They'll see the reactions alright :D

169585 2003-08-23 08:43:00 Yes, Unlimited National from Ihug.. download all you like
Ihug are doing 10 gig's International + unlimited national transfer.
This mean's it doesnt matter if its email, webmail, or whatever.. If its traffic, it counts!

ICONZ do unlimited transfer right across the board!

Hi Malcom Yes I've already done this but it still costs an arm and now only half a leg :D . I just fail to see why they simply can't supply me with an adsl line and not charge me for a phone I could easily live without, except for the fact that they love ripping customers off I see no reason at all.

169588 2003-08-23 09:09:00 As soon as I return from Australia I intend to tell telcom where they can shove their phone, phone lines and adsl non service in NO UNCERTAIN TERMS. And I will sign up with walker wireless even though it may cost a little more at least I won't have to deal with a company who constantly demonstrates it's poor judgement and downright dirty tactics. 169589 2003-08-23 09:15:00 Ahh... my apologies.

I was informed MaxNet were capping it to 10 gigs a few months back.

My bad ;-)

169590 2003-08-23 10:07:00 I realise this thread has been thrashed, but I was under the impression that Jet Start via Xtra has unlimited national traffic, yet everyone seems to be patting Ihug on the back for this?

Hey don't worry I think this offering is just as pathetic as you feel, but I have to say credit where credit is due re national traffic (hope I don't get shot down in flames...)

Currently:
"Xtra limits ternational traffic to 5,000 MB per month and places no limit on national traffic."

169591 2003-08-23 11:12:00 Ihug get the better credit because Xtra are a division of Telecom, and the Ihug deal offers the same price except you get an extra 5gig international traffic on top of that.

Xtra: 5gig, setup fee: $28, and $35 a month
Ihug: 10gig, NO setup fee, and $35 a month

Uh whos offering the better deal :)
Personally I think the isps that charge only $30 a month are better, cos you'll save $60 a year.

And on the topic of national traffic - big deal! Theres nothing worthwhile downloading from NZ anyway.

169593 2003-08-26 01:23:00 I agree with the comments in both posts! Sure it may have been intention to do this.. but no matter which way telecom dice it, its a pathetic offer in the first place, no wonder they've had so much bad feedback! Chilling_Silently (228)
