2003-08-22 14:31:00 | Apparently Walker Wireless will be servicing the Queenstown/Southland area within a year or two. 256k I think it is, bye bye adsl :) woot! | PoWa (203) | |
2003-08-22 16:40:00 | If you would like to express your views directly to Telecom regarding their new adsl package, they have a Feedback (www.telecom.co.nz) email page. If do decide to impart some of your wisdom. Can I humbly suggest, that you do so with cough! good grace and manners as that is more likely to bring reason than flaming them. I would further suggest that you keep your correspondence to very simple terms, so that it may be readily understood by the good people at Telecom as I reason that they do not have any capacity to understand common logic and any assistance you can give in this respect would, no doubt, be greatly appreciated by them. | 169567 | 2003-08-22 21:40:00 | I have to say this has been both a badly kept secret and quite a disappointing non-event. The 256kb limit is attractive to me as I get sod all more than that anyway on my 1Gb account. I am just not sure I will bother. I can't see people rushing to this at any level. If they were given a report card I think the bottom line would be: Must try harder. robo.

2003-08-22 23:05:00 | I think it is rather pathetic and I can't see many people at all going for it. If it was unlimited national traffic I know plenty of people that would be going for it. | -=JM=- (16) | |
2003-08-22 23:45:00 | WHAT?????????? TeleCom aren't going to see me in their internet products at all within the next two years at least. :^O BUT i Need the Speed, because i am only at 56 k thru Freenet ($15 flatrate) X-( Any Sugestions????

2003-08-23 00:04:00 | At least give us 5GB cap. Many other nations have it as 256k minimum ADSL speed with no cap. Some even provide a $10 more plan for 512k unlimited. 256k in NZ is essentially a premium product! I did some maths (taking GB = 1,000MB for simplicity): 256k option will be $960nz a month ($60 per month then 20c per MB over thereafter). 10GB - $1,960nz Like I said, Jetline package has ADSL and phonline for $94.95 with fullspeed JS with 500MB cap. This is essentially $40 phone and $55 for JS, which is better than $70 for a slower service with the same cap.

2003-08-23 00:25:00 | My mistake. I forgot to account for the 1GB and 2GB plans, also ISP cost is not $35 but $20 (as by Ihug). Still its not attractive! 5GB = 870$, 10gb = 1680. Full speed JS at $50 and $70 1/2GB cap is attractive with respect. (plus isp cost). X-(

2003-08-23 00:57:00 | You could try Slingshot with their Accelerator product, which speeds up Web pages, Text and graphics by about 3x, but does nothing for file downloads. | MalcolmDick (4453) | |
