169544 2003-08-22 09:29:00 I will stay with my 56 K modem unlimited at $17 per month with slingshot thanks broadband with Telecom is a joke $70 should get you at least 256k with at least a 10 gig limit of data per month like telstra saturn cable offers kiwibeat (304)
169545 2003-08-22 09:46:00 Telecom can get stuffed. Fortunately I have not yet invested any $$$ into ADSL infrastructure!!! Clear Net has a 256k 10GB package I believe ...

Serious questions whether if I can afford Telecom ADSL. That's jack man. What the heck can I do with 500MB or their big fat maximum 2GB limit. They definitely live in a different planet.

169546 2003-08-22 10:05:00 Is the current 128k option still available??
What a group of poofeters. They are a monopoly. I find it hard to believe they once had it unlimited and now capping at 500MB.

Yes, it will be:

[i]Users who want to access large amounts of data but for whom speed is less important will continue to have the option of JetStream Starter, which is up to three times faster than dial-up (up to 128 kbps download and upload) with usage managed by ISPs.[i/]

It is a bit disappointing. I just checked what my monthly bandwidth use was and I would have to really watch it to keep to a 500MB International allowance. Guess I will just stick to the standard 128 kbps rate.

Where does it say the new plans are only International data? I think the data cap will be any data, along with their normal full speed data caps, which are all data not just International.

Only JS 128 has a free national quota as far as I know?

169550 2003-08-22 10:53:00 Obviously the 128K, 10GB cap will remain the most popular unless Telecom do some sleight of hand trickery advertising to suck the unknowing into one of the other schemes.

It would seem fairly certain that Telecom for all their so-called market research are going to come unstuck over this. The only thing in their favour is the current very limited cable coverage, there isnt much else of an option other than Telecom for a large chunk of the population who want always online-high speed.

:O - that was a wrong assumption on my part then. Definitely will have to stick to the 128 cap then.

169552 2003-08-22 11:18:00 Sickening, Sickening, Sickening. I hope that the Telecom Management watch PF1. I always had a Good Word for Telecom but not anymore. Will be interested to see what the other ISPs can do... Poppa John X-( Poppa John (284)

Thats called Psychological pricing, and frankly its quite pathetic as no one is that dumb to fall for it, i'm stil waiting for ADSL prices to drop, speeds to increase, uncapped data, no international data crap, just standard flat rate adsl thats also very cheap.
