| 170016 | 2003-08-23 23:52:00 | One problem I am having with MSN 6 and my old version of windows messenger is when attempting to sign in to msn 6 it will pop up from the system tray saying 'you have been signed out of windwos messenger because you are attempting to sign in at another location' (or something along those lines). Also sometimes after just connecting to the net messages will pop up from people on my contacts in the windows messenger form, but windows messenger is not running at all. I have deleted that .net passports from user accounts, manage my network passwords and then signed in again only using msn but it still happens, I do not want to delete windows messenger completely from my machine. Does anyone know how I could stop this or why it is happening? |

Because MSN 6 does not like older versions &/or other version of messenger, on the same computer . there is a FAQ on Press F1 on How to delete/remove windows messenger . |

| 170018 | 2003-08-24 03:37:00 | Hi Sam, I may be way off here, but it sounds like the invisible "windows messenger" sign in prob i had when i upgraded to the latest "windows messenger" awhile back - anyway - do you mean that "windows messenger" is not showing in the sys tray, however seems to be signed in auto on connection to the net??? It sounds like it might be whats happening? Are you running Nortons A.V???? If so check the setting in Nortons and disable the MSN protection.... that solved it for me? Even though that setting had been set since day one previous to upgrading "win mess", obviously something in the upgrade activated it?Hence the auto logging(invisible) in of it through NAV...
