| 169965 | 2003-08-23 21:10:00 | Occasionally a unusual file just appears on my desktop. It has a file name of "~" with no extension. The file type is "file", and the attributes are "archive", and it is 228KB. I have noticed it appear several times over the last few months and I couldn't view it or open it with anything, so was just deleting it. However, it has appeared again, so I spent a little time trying to track it down. With advanced find, by time, I noticed it has the same date/time as an update to my address book .wab file. Mindful about the current worm/virus issues about address books, I viewed the file with a Hex viewer and sure enough it was a copy of my address book. I am running Symantic Antivirus and I have recently done a complete virus scan when the "~" file was on the desk top. I also have ran Lavasoft Ad-aware, with no virus found and nothing unusual in Ad-aware. Is this something I should worry about, and have you any advice of what is causing this. |
