Which involves using an external vendor who runs Linux - an unfortunate setback for Microsoft, but I guess a little kudos for recognising their point of failure and working around it. Doesn't do their PR a lot of good, however this is really only visible to a small proportion of technophiles who care enough to find out and know enough to understand. For the millions of Mom and Pop users it makes no difference... I sense however this post is someone trying to leap on a bandwagon. No points for style or execution, minimal points for content. |

Funny how by pointing to a news item you can be jumping on a bandwagon (who knows the real motivation for posting this). It would be good if Microsoft cared mored for business relationships than what software other business'es run. Apparently it was Microsoft who pressured Dell to stop doing r&d in Linux in the late nineties otherwise they might not be able to ship Windows as well. Of course Microsoft would say Dell was not put under any pressure. |

| 169975 | 2003-08-25 10:15:00 | The only OS on my PC is Redhat 9 (athough I use mainly WIn2k at work and have two Win98 PCs at home that the family use - as these get older they will be replaced with Linux if I get my way!). By far the most used application for me is OpenOffice (on Linux at home and Win2k at work). I also use the Gimp for editing digital photos, Dia creating technical diagrams, Bluefish for HTML editing, gFTP, GQView for viewing photos, Mozilla for browsing and emailing. I must admit to using the command prompt for creating CD-RWs and CD-Rs. |
