| 170613 | 2003-08-26 01:43:00 | In the control panel i have told my winodws to move my swap file to D drive with 600mb.I am running windows 98se with 64 edo ram 200mhz. Somehow I now have two swap files. One in c drive and one in D drive. I deleted the one in C drive and it caused my computer to become unstable .I had to format my computer. I was wondering why would windows make another swap file when i've told it to make it in d drive? What information is contain isn't the swap file?I thought that most of the vital information is in the windows registry and not the swap file Any idea? |

| 170617 | 2003-08-26 23:45:00 | D drive is a different hardrive to C drive.yes i did go to virtual memory setting and i told windows to allocate 600mb using d drive for windows swap file however about a week later something strange happened. There was another swap file in c drive although i told windows to switch the swap file to d drive. Now C drive had 200mb of swap file and drive had 600mb. I couldnt delete the c drive swap file and drive swap file at the same time.It would only let me delete the c drive. After i deleteing and expereincing alot of programs.I was lucky that i didn't empty the recycle pin But the file wasn't there. So i had to format my computer.Next time i have trouble what do i do to recover it? |

| 170618 | 2003-08-27 01:30:00 | Are you trying to find the actual file, cut and paste it onto another drive, and then delete the original to the recycle bin?? That would never work. You have to do it the sensible way and right click on MyComputer -> properties -> advanced tab -> settings -> and it should be in there somewhere. You should always try deleting the previous swap file from inside those settings - not just find the file and delete it. |
