| 170584 | 2003-08-26 01:05:00 | It's weird. I've got 2 XP machines both connected to a hub. Printer is connected to the 1st pc. Everything was working fine, file & print sharing ... etc. But, when I try to print a document from the 2nd pc just now, error message says that there's no printer connected! I went to Start/Printers and Faxes and found that the 'printer' is gone! I then click 'Add' to install the printer but error says: "Operation could not be completed!" My first PC works fine, printing - no problem! Any suggestion? Cheers |

| 170585 | 2003-08-26 01:14:00 | Look at things like firewalls preventing access to the printer over the LAN | godfather (25) | ||
| 170586 | 2003-08-26 01:30:00 | Thanks, godfather for your prompt reply. There is no firewall install on this 2nd PC; the built-in Internet firewall is also disabled. Zone Alarm is however, installed on the 1st PC. Cheers |

| 170588 | 2003-08-26 02:04:00 | Thanks guys. Found the problem: The print spooler service was set to manual and was not started. Reset to automatic and restarted XP. System detects printer automatically and printer is working fine. Thanks again, folks Cheers |
