| 170521 | 2003-08-26 00:37:00 | When booting the screen gets as far as displaying icons then the message "Error - system busy - push any key or ctrl/alt/del or restart computer." appears. After restart everything appears normal. Any ideas what causes this glitch please?? |

| 170522 | 2003-08-26 07:16:00 | Hi Martina Have you loaded any new programs lately? This message only occurs during startup? An area you can look at is what is loading at startup. Do you have lots of icons showing beside the clock in the systray? Things like printer status etc do not need loading at startup and they should have an option within the program to disable loading at startup. You can still access these programs via the control panel or the start menu. Try removing some of the unnecessary ones. Make sure you do not disable your firewall and antivirus programs. You can also take a look at the startup list using msconfig. To do this go Start > Run and enter msconfig. Under the startup tab you will see a list of programs - some of them will have weird names :). Visit this site Pacs-portal (www.pacs-portal.co.uk) and search for the items listed. You can work out what programs are necessary, and what ones you can remove the tick from beside safely. After sorting out the list, click apply and OK. When you restart the PC you will see a message about using Selective startup for troubleshooting - just put a tick beside "never show this message again" and click OK. See if that helps out with your startup freeze. |
