| 170651 | 2003-08-26 07:32:00 | hi folks couple of weeks back i had the blaster virus on my pc.. i got the fixblast tool from symantec and then installed the ms patch. so after that i was okay, i had some probs installing the drivers for an adsl modem i got and so used the system restore to wind the system back.. and once i got online after that..the blaster virus cam up again..i guess its because i didnt turn off system restore while applying the ms patch ayes? anyways.i thought no worries..jus use the fixit again and then apply the patch again..the fixit worked okay but when i went to install the patch again i got this message " setup could not verify the integrity of the file update.inf. make sure the cryptographic service is running on this computer " i couldnt use the system restore again because ive changed the letters on my drives just recently any ideasssss pleaseeee thanks |

| 170652 | 2003-08-26 07:53:00 | I got the same message when trying to install the patch on a friends PC from a floppy. I followed the advice here (support.microsoft.com) and step 8 finally fixed it. Start with the first suggestion though. Note: Even though the knowledge base article is for installing SP1, the same troubleshooting process applies. |
