| 1345980 | 2013-06-16 04:53:00 | So just had first powercut of the winter, and I am now thinking about putting my main pc onto a UPS so I dont lose what im doing again. What size or VA UPS would be needed for a single screen with a pc with a 750w psu in it? I only need like 5 minutes max to shut it down. |

| 1345981 | 2013-06-16 23:07:00 | Best Idea in my opinion is to get a cheap watt meter and plug everything you want to connect to a UPS into it and fire it up, load the PC up with a game or something like video encoding to get it using power and see what the actual figure is. Everything else is just guesswork. Most UPSs should have the rated load in watts somewhere in the documentation as well as the VA rating and it tends to be significantly lower. Without looking it up I think it's something like 60-70% of the VA rating depending on power factor. A UPS somewhere in the 650-1200VA range is probably what you are looking at but you need that measurement to know more accurately. | dugimodo (138) | ||

Look at the output voltage, 230 +/- 10% is a horrid spec Theres a thread about nasty UPS's on that other forum. Some brands have proved to be outright dangerous (fires, overheating, exploding) |
