| 1345649 | 2013-06-13 06:41:00 | Should have got the Samsung. :p Anyway, I got the Sandisk Extreme 240GB, this (www.sandisk.com)one. I've only got SATA 3Gbps, so I know that's a bit of a limit, but when benchmarks are run, the IOPS I'm seeing aren't as high as I was expecting. Everything else seems good - I'll attach a bunch of screenshots, I'm limited a lot in sequential writes by the 3Gbps interface, but seem to be seeing about what I'd expect there. Do you guys think this is right? Thanks. :) 5052 5053 5054 |

Here is what I got on my Extreme 120GB over 6Gbps, which should in theory get slaughtered by a 240GB: Random 4KB Read (QD1) "20 MB/s 5,189 IOPS" Random 4KB Write (QD1) "117 MB/s 30,180 IOPS" Random 4KB Read (QD16) "69 MB/s 17,843 IOPS" Random 4KB Write (QD16) "136 MB/s 35,037 IOPS" P.S. this was using Anvil SSD tool which uses incompressible data. |

| 1345652 | 2013-06-13 22:59:00 | I think synthetic benchmarks only matter when reviewing drives. My intel 320 120GB SSD is only a 3GB/s and benchmarks much slower than the Samsung 830 256GB I replaced it with but in practice the only difference I can notice is the size. Don't worry about it. | dugimodo (138) | ||
| 1345653 | 2013-06-13 23:59:00 | ^You're completing ignoring the placebo effect that benchmarking has on the user :p The other thing to check is which SATA port you have it plugged into. A lot of mobo's have 4 or so native SATA ports and a couple of 3rd-party ports which are usually a different colour. The native ports are generally better for performance. |

And I wanted to make sure there wasn't actually something wrong with the SSD. :badpc: I ran anvil and things are better than expected. And yes, it is in one of the Native SATA ports. :) Cheers. 5058 |
