1321227 2013-01-03 00:50:00 Every so often my landline phone rings, but when I answer it there is silence for maybe 10-15secs, followed by a mechanical female-ish voice saying "goodbye" and the phone hangs up. Anyone else experienced this/knows what it is? Tony (4941)
1321228 2013-01-03 01:05:00 I suppose you say hello or however you answer your phone. I have had these but haven't waited long enough for the goodbye bit but just hung-up. Once I did get a reply when I said hello and it was one of these computer scammers. The voice lag was so slow it wasn't funny. I would say something and about 30 seconds later they would reply. It was a bit like watching a live TV interview from England where the interviewer was in NZ. I just hung up in the end.

1321229 2013-01-03 01:15:00 I think what I was describing and the "windows support" scammers (I've had those too, but not lately) are two different things. Tony (4941)
1321230 2013-01-03 01:51:00 Yes, I have had that happen and I think it is what I call a "phone bot", one of those foreigners trying to sell things. We have caller ID so if it is a private number or a non-recognisable number and no one replies within five seconds when I answer the phone then I hang up.

They used to be rather frequent but now seem to have dried up a bit, thankfully.

1321232 2013-01-03 02:22:00 I've had quite a few of those in the past, thought the voice could have sounded Indian. Terry Porritt (14)

Mmmmmm, I don't see him that way, more of an ability to recognise Indians.
