1320995 2013-01-02 01:41:00 I have a xbox 360 and for some reason it wont support 1080p on my tv even though my blu ray player runs on 1080p no problem and my freeview box runs on 1080i no problem, Have tried resetting my xbox360 by holding down the yellow button and the right trigger it resets but the hdtv settings stays greyed out.

having to use the old yellow red and white plug for 360 not very clear but better than nothing, anybody know what i can do to get my xbox to run on 1080p, And before you ask my tv is full hd and runs on all hd settings.

1320996 2013-01-02 02:22:00 You won't get an HD signal through 'the old yellow red and white plug'
Composite does not support that resolution, or anything like it,
that's why the settings will be greyed out.
Component (red green blue) should I think.
Try it.

1320997 2013-01-02 02:28:00 Im aware i wont get hd through the red yellow and white plug what im saying is im using the yellow red and white plug because my xbox wont show anything through the hd output to the tv. Hitech (9024)
1320998 2013-01-02 02:33:00 KarameaDave got it right, there are two Xbox cables, one contains the standart Yellow (composite) video signal (very low definition) and the red/white sound, the other has a YPrPb connector (Red, Green, Blue) and the red white sound. This is the HD cable, some of them also have a yellow composite for backwards compatibility but only the 3x cables will produce HD video. On the cable is a switch for HD/SD signal. You need one of these for HD signal. Depending on the 360 though, if it has HDMI out you're much much better of using that instead of the older analogue cables :)

Unfortunately I gave me 2x spare HD 360 cables away otherwise I'd send one to you

Here's what it looks like, does yours look like this? ready-up.net

1320999 2013-01-02 02:43:00 I never got one of those when i bought mine any idea how much they are. I wish there was a way to fix this problem in the settings but because i cant view it through hdmi i cant fix it dam microsoft. Hitech (9024)
1321000 2013-01-02 04:02:00 So your 360 has HDMI but it won't get signal on the TV or does the Xbox have no HDMI at all?

$7 on trademe, just search 360 HD video cable www.trademe.co.nz

Plenty on eBay but not much cheaper than trademe and NZ is closer/easier to dispute if there's a dodge seller and it will ship waaaay faster.

1321001 2013-01-02 19:00:00 I never replaced my 360 when it got stolen so I can't look to see how it was setup but mine had a HDMI port on it and worked to the TV just fine without any need to set anything up.
I have had issues with some devices and my TV though, sometimes there's a chicken and the egg issue - the TV won't let me select an input with no signal on it and some devices won't output a picture unless they detect a display.... (great design guys)
For me I feed things through my receiver which has 4 HDMI inputs and it seems to fix it.

1321002 2013-01-03 09:21:00 I'm sure the 360 doesn't support 1080P through component even though component cables are technically capable of displaying 1080P. Why can't you use HDMI? Greven (91)
1321003 2013-01-03 13:09:00 Some HDCP problem perhaps? Agent_24 (57)
1321004 2013-01-03 19:52:00 If it is HDCP you should be able to disable it, the 360 does support 1080 though component. I have used it before but if you have the option to use HDMI it would be better that you used it rather than component (unless it was significantly inconvenient) The Error Guy (14052)
