1345481 2013-06-22 09:50:00 Thanks but yes I did make sure that my phone was "Discoverable", and I did this several times - it is a main point and I forgot to include this.

I appreciate the examples that you gave, but I am familiar with this as I have done so with other phones and other computers (of friends).

What else could I check?

1345482 2013-06-22 10:15:00 Just a thought -- What USB port are you using ?

On my computer in the office ( which the pic's were from) the BT & phone will only work when connected to a rear USB port - when connected to the front ports, the Dongle installs OK, but wont pick up the phone.

This is actually a bit strange because the rear port has a 1 mtr cable going to a USB 4 port hub, powered by the USB port.

1345483 2013-06-22 10:22:00 I keep my cheap dongle bought from Playtech (make unknown at this point) plugged into a front port gary67 (56)
1345484 2013-06-23 03:23:00 Yesterday I did try a front USB port and a port on a squid off a rear USB port.
Today I tried the BT dongle on a rear port (not via the squid). I have also rebooted, but still the BT dongle is not working.

However this may be the problem:
using Hardware and Devices - Troubleshooting, the result = "Windows Update configured to never install drivers."
Well, I do not remember opting for that configuration, and I cannot see a way to change this.

What now?

1345485 2013-06-23 06:02:00 This may be the problem (answers.microsoft.com). (It is occuring on my PC. Will attempt to rectify the problem later.)

But how do I configure Windows Update to accept driver updates?

1345488 2013-06-25 02:22:00 I wouldnt rely on WU for drivers. It may install one, but it may also be stuffed / corrupt / or buggy Speedy Gonzales (78)

Windows 7 is a lot more reliable than previous version with the driver updates, and in this case, more than one of us has used the exact piece of hardware with WU drivers with no issues.
