170798 2003-08-27 04:40:00 You ought to read again as it said each time there was a fault it was a non Nokia battery which did not have the proper saftey measures for overheating. mikebartnz (21)
170799 2003-08-27 04:44:00 1000 in binary is actually 1024 and computers use binary. It is like a light switch either on or off mikebartnz (21)
170800 2003-08-27 04:46:00 thanks for trying to explain but i gotta apologise as that went woooooooooosssssssh over my head... csinclair83 (200)
170801 2003-08-27 04:47:00 Any battery, if hit hard enough, has a good chance of catching fire, exploding, or behaving in other entertaining ways, whatever protective circuits are included. Lithium-ion, NiMH, NiCD, Gel lead acid ... they all have lots of current available.

Chris, when the charger says the battery is full, it will have cut down to a very tiny current trickle mode. It should be no problem.

170803 2003-08-27 08:40:00 I happen to be a person who has an unexplained dislike of Nokia phones.

Sure, a phone is a phone, but I prefer Sony Ericsson phones. Perhaps it's because, to me, they are not so childishly designed, and seem more professional. I like a phone that doesn't try to be something other than a phone, unless it also acts like a PIM. I'll never use video features in phones, and the same goes for taking pictures.

I do need a replacement phone at the moment... hopefully it won't be the stupidly hyped Nokia phone that just about everyone has.

170804 2003-08-27 09:05:00 I worked for two years in a research dept on ni-cad batts and I can tell you that when they are fully charged the oxygen over pressure is about ten atomospheres. This is normal and they should vent, if this pressure is exceeded, without exploding. Getting hot in this state of charge, a normal result of fast charging, does not help. I talked to a representative of the batts from America and he said there were almost no cases of explosions. But that is why they are shipped in aircraft holds in a discharged state.
Hope that helps
Robert.

170805 2003-08-27 09:21:00 One kilobyte = 1024 bits

Therefore, 1024 entries = 1 Kilopost

It's a kinda tradition here that started way back in the dim dark recess of last year when the first person hit 1024 posts . I think it was Godfather actually .

Think of it like counting RAM:

2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024, 2048, 4096 etc .

Those numbers seem familiar?

Cheers
