| 170952 | 2003-08-27 10:41:00 | I'm about to move a PC from Win98 to WinXP home, doing a clean install. I think I know what I'm doing, but just in case, how does this procedure look? 1. Move everything I want to keep off my C: drive. 2. Increase C: partition to 5gig with Partition Magic. 3. Boot from Windows startup disk. 4. Format C: 5. Win XP u/g disk in CD-ROM drive. 6. From C: prompt, run setup.exe from CD. (Or can I boot directly from the WIN XP disk?) 7. Insert Win98 CD when prompted for verification. 8. Hope for the best... B-) All comments gratefully received! |
