170682 2003-08-26 08:56:00 Calling all Linux guru's
I've been having lots of getting my modem to work with RedHat 9.
I ran lspci which found the modem and type, I downloaded and installed the correct driver, checked the model of the modem, the Kernal number... the whole deal.
Yet when I tried the Internet Connection Wizard it probed for a modem but couldn't find one.
Any idea's, I'm starting to tear my hair out!!!

Thanks Dave

170683 2003-08-26 09:05:00 Have a look back over the past three or so days, there's been a couple of other threads.

Geoff Palmer included a utility (Which I should really memorise the homepage of) called ScanModem on a PCW Cover Disc a month or two back, download it from:
www.reacuemannz.orcon.net.nz

unzip it and run the utility.

Then, post back the contents of the first generated txt file (in the same Directory that you ran the application from) on here if you cant make head or tail of it and myself or somebody else will point you in the right direction!

170686 2003-08-26 09:57:00 Where?? DaveNZ (4458)
170687 2003-08-26 10:32:00 Doesn't find modems too well. I have an external modem which the probe didn't seem to find. Had to select the port manually try that. rsnic (3780)
170688 2003-08-26 12:02:00 su at a shell and run lsmod.Look for lt_modem and lt_serial(drivers) in the list of loaded modules. If they are not there you can try loading the modules manually.Open up another shell (su) and then input insmod -f lt_modem(enter) and insmod -f lt_serial(enter).Ignore any warnings and try your internet connection again.

Cheers
