2003-08-26 08:14:00 | Hi, I have been trying to make some divx movies, and have tried to follow two tutorials off the 'net, but each time I do the move get to 2 minutes and then stops encoding. I even tried Divx's Dr. Divx and the same thing happened. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks.

2003-08-26 11:05:00 | Hi, can you give links to the guides you are using please? You might be best to revert back to Vdub 1.4.13 (build 14328/release). That version definitely works. The newer versions have major bugs in them which jamm up the encoding, and usually stop at 99% on the last pass :P

2003-08-26 11:06:00 | Also processor, OS, ram and how much Virtual Memory you have allocated. 1gig + is best for divx encoding. | PoWa (203) | |

2003-08-26 14:28:00 | Try allocating over a gig in virtual memory for encoding large divX movies, especially on Win2k. Do that if the older version of VirtualDub doesn't work for you. You could always try GordianKnot, theres guides for that at doom9. Apparently produces a better quality rip than the Vdub/dvd2avi guides because you're frameserving with AviSynth and it keeps the dvd in its native colour format.

As for system..... xp 2200, gig ddr ram (get your facts straight ham :)) I did get the newest version of virtualdub, I didnt know it was worse that the older ones. I changed the virtual memory size and I'm just downloading the GordianKnot Codec pack and GordianKnot Rippack, so I'll let you know how it goes......... Thanks |
