171300 2003-08-28 23:55:00 I wonder how may people have had bad experiences like me in dealing with The PC Company:

In just over a year time I have had to bring different bits of the hardware package back for repairs 4 times. Eventually the motherboard died on me
and that when real madness had begun:

For four days I left messages on the company's answering system asking to ring back and let me know what has been happening with the machine. Never had a single call back.

I sent e-mail messages to the support people asking to ring back. It never happened!

I wrote a letter to the Customer Care manager. Received a nonsense back saying how they "strive" and haw they "care" and that my case was a priority. What a joke! The manager cloud not even get right as to where my machine was being repaired: Auckland or Hamilton!!!

Eventually I received the puter back and it looked as if it had been repaired at a car mechanic shop as it had black greasy fingerprints all over the front panel!!!

Unfortunately you do not realize it until you try, but all the different phone numbers including 0800, 0508 and others lead to the same automated answering service that one just can not get past.

I can not understand how a company like The PC Company managed to receive award of the Best Company from the PC WORLD NZ. It is just beyond my grasp!!!

I appreciate that the company NZ owned and it brings patriotic feelings up. But if the quality of service is like this... stuff being patriotic! I think it has to go both ways. The Kiwis would support company owned and operated by the Kiwis. In return the company would deliver. To me it looks that it works only one way at the moment in the minds of the management of The PC Company.

It is getting very predictable that once a month somebody will complain about the PC Company.

Do a search for PC Company on this site and you will see that you are not alone.

Personally I deal with QMB and would not buy a readymade even if it was only 10c.

171303 2003-08-29 00:05:00 This is a repetitive subject on PF1 Grunty.

Rather than start another interminable thread on the subject, I suggest you search the PF1 archive (accessible at the top of your screen) and read about heaps of other peoples experiences (good and bad) and all your questions will be answered.

Heaps of people buy PC Co computers so the law of averages says that some will have problems, and some of those will receive excellent service with quick fixes, while others will find themselves on a slippery slope to nowhere.

If you have big problems, exercise your rights under consumer law (also covered in the archives) and get it replaced or a refund.

PC Co won "Best company" because more customers voted for it than any other. That has to tell you something, but I'm not sure what!

Go figure. :|

171305 2003-08-29 01:27:00 Bulk volumes sales using less than top of the line parts of course will result in problems , be wise and get a custom built PC without the bloated O/S that is being offered these days kiwibeat (304)
171306 2003-08-29 03:04:00 go with http://www.ascent.co.nz they are great with very competitive prices and will freight anywhere in nz free and probably next day delivery. They have never let me or my friends down... Ascent is for WINNERS... dotcommander (4338)
171307 2003-08-29 03:16:00 This is one of those subjects which is totally pointless .

The biggest selling company has by definition the most customers . Assuming a "typical" failure rate (of hardware, and people dealing with customers), the biggest company will get the most complaints .

A small company might give you the personal attention of the owner . I suppose that even owners of small companies sometimes have bad days . :D

171308 2003-08-29 05:05:00 2 years ago I had these recurring problems
I rang the head-office and explained my access problem... Politely.

I got prompt service and my problem was solved quickly. Or did I just strike the right person at head office?
