2003-08-29 00:18:00 | You brought a new printer/fax/scanner and the support CD only has programs suitable for Win98 !!? Are you sure there are not programs on the CD for W2K or XP. I find it hard to believe a new piece of hardware doesn't included compatible XP software. | Jen C (20) | |
2003-08-29 00:24:00 | OK, I just read your other thread on the printer and see it is model MFC 5100 (www.brother.co.nz). Have you tried the Win2000 version of the programs? | Jen C (20) | |
2003-08-29 01:09:00 | nah i havent... the software on cd is for win95...98...98se....me...nt... workstation 4 and 2000professional... if its for xp download from website but it is not the same, it only has drivers and PC-FAX.... i'm asking because i want to have OCR so i can edit the text i scan...and that comes if i install from cd... there was a warning on a peaice of paper about installing cd on xp and that it'd cause computer problems and brother wont take any responsiblity...thats why i'm here asking if it would work with compatiblity mode like i've done for a few games..

2003-08-31 03:23:00 | the 2000 drivers should be ok as both O/S are very similar | kiwibeat (304) | |
2003-08-31 05:00:00 | It is most likely that haven't completed the drivers, etc, for XP yet. But don't hold your breath. Have had situations where the manufacturer has deemed the model is "too old" and won't bother creating updated drivers, etc. Haven't heard of Brother doing this but other companies have. Jeff.
