| 171700 | 2003-08-30 04:12:00 | Why do computers hate me? Can you be classed as a nerd when computers hate you? My computer wont install anything. I cant install acrobat, PC Alert, Fuzzy Logic, any other stuff off my MSi disk, my scanner drivers/program. Come to think of it nothing that would usually require installshield. I deleted IsUninst.exe (uninstallshield) so I could install stuff - it was giving me and error: pressf1.pcworld.co.nz Now it just comes up with a blank error box. No words!!! This has got to be the most annoying error of them all... damn microsoft X-( So does anyone know where I can get Installshield to put back on my computer? On the other hand how am I going to Install installshield when I need installshield to install anything??:| Cheers |

| 171704 | 2003-08-30 05:38:00 | Just a word of advice for the future Hamstar: When faced with error messages about programs running or other program conflicts, before doing an uninstall, navigate to the named exe file in explorer and rename it by changing the last letter. I usually use .ex_ as my preferred rename. That will stop the program from running while you sort out any other problems. Sometimes it is quicker and more effective to rename the program folder as that removes other options that could also jam up your system. If renaming doesn't help, just change it back and go to plan B. Cheers Billy 8-{) |

Well see I got Win2k and I got a few other problems with it so reinstalling was plan b. > also have you look at the installshield website????? yep, I went to the site before posting but it looked like they had only developers tools for download. > When faced with error messages about programs running or other program conflicts, before doing an uninstall, navigate to the named exe file in explorer and rename it by changing the last letter. I usually use .ex_ as my preferred rename. ****... now theres a good idea. I think my IsUninst.exe was corrupt anyway, thats what the IS helpsite said, but I'll remember that in future. Anyway, doesn't look like theres much ya can do about it, so I'll try a repair from the win2k CD, and failing that, reinstall. Thanks guys Wish me luck!:D |
