| 171873 | 2003-08-31 05:39:00 | Hey everyone, I've got myself a Acer 8x4x32 CD writer. It's code name is 8432A (I believe). I've been given it because it doesn't work, and I'm looking at getting it working again. I'm fairly sure the firmware is ruined, so I was hoping someone could make a backup of their firmware (if they have the same drive), and email it to me. If anyone has the same CD-RW as mentioned above, please respond here and I'll tell you how to get the file off of your CD-RW. It's simply a matter of downloading a program and running a single command at a dos prompt. I would be extremely grateful, Thanks in advance, Jonathan Giles |

The problem with BenQ is that they only give out .exe firmware updates - meaning that if the exe doesn't think my drive is valid (which it doesn't), it won't update the firmware. This leaves me with the need to use a third-party app and a copy of someone elses firmware. Thanks, Jonathan Giles. |
