171818 2003-08-31 01:09:00 hi there,

I've been getting these, recently new, random system reboots in windows 2000 .

The reboots are random, in a sense, that they only happen when I run windows explorer just after inserting a cd . The reboots dont appear to happen any other time, or any other time that I run windows explorer . Just after I insert a cd and the drive is still trying to read it .

Is this a known problem? or just one specific to my machine? I was contemplating a full system reformat and re-installation if there was no easy fix .

thanks

171819 2003-08-31 02:19:00 I have the same problem with 98SE only occurs rarely but quite irritating just hope it doesnt happen in the middle of burning a cdr .
could be related to software issues games applications corrupted or causing conflicts ?

171820 2003-08-31 02:37:00 Have you made any hardware or software changes lately?Have you done a virus scan?have you done a scan disk?do you have service packs installed?have touched the registry files?

I cannot think of anything else.
