| 171869 | 2003-08-31 06:18:00 | Hmm.... Our people here at work purchased a stack of Genius mice for our office here. They lasted less than a month before they were completely shot. Have found that they aren't renowned for their quality control etc. I think trying it on another PC should answer your question fairly quickly. Also check all the pins are straight and aligned so there is no shorting or anything like that. |

| 171870 | 2003-08-31 06:36:00 | The hot news is that the optical mouse works properly when plugged into the PS/2 socket on my wife's Presario desktop, so the plot thickens. Added point: my wife's 'normal mouse' on her Presario has a scroll wheel between the left and right buttons and so does the new optical mouse. My laptop conventional mouse doesn't have a scroll wheel. I now remember plugging a non-optical, but wheeled, mouse into my Toshiba op before and it went berserk then too. |

| 171871 | 2003-09-01 05:31:00 | Laptops are funny. And I don't mean "amusing". :D I haven't tried running two mice on a desktop, but you're supposed to be able to on most laptops. (I think that's because those stalks and touch pad "mice" aren't as popular as the manufacturers would wish.:D There's lots of scope for interaction there.) If an ordinary mouse works, the optical one should too. Wouldn't life be simple and boring if everything worked as it should? :-( |
