| 172410 | 2003-09-02 01:17:00 | Does anyone know if one can use a NZ purchased laptop to access the internet in the States? ie, will a NZ compatible dial-up modem work in the States? David |

| 172412 | 2003-09-02 02:35:00 | I know a few people who have used their laptops, both old (very old) and new to connect to the internet in the US. I also know a lady who has bought two laptops in the US and use them to connect to the net quite easily here. Mike. |

You can use generally the same modem anywhere you go; you only need a different phone line connector as some countries have different connectors, although most now have the small RJ11 type connector. the bigger white plugs/sockets are called BT connectors and are only in the UIK and NZ. The US and most of Asia uses RJ11. Australia has a mix of RJ11 and another type |
