172214 2003-09-01 04:53:00 Hi All,

I am contemplating moving my server to linux from win2000 after a bad case of the Blaster worm .

My server is a bare bones install of win2000 with internet connection sharing, basic networking and a firewall .

Server hardware:
-> P2 250 (or thereabouts)
-> 32mb RAM
-> 1GB HDD
-> Internal Dynalink ADSL modem, model ALH110
-> Generic 10/100 network card

Software:
-> Remote admin software (so I don't have to be sitting at the box to work it) .
-> Tiny personal firewall .

Other info:
-> I have Jetstart via Xtra, and I use another ISP for my email .

I would like help with a few things, as know bugger all about linux as a server .
What I would like to do is have the server share its internet connection to the other pc's on my network which run a hodgepodge of winME and winXP and access it via a 10/100 switch .

In order to do that, I'm assuming I'll need to install linux, set up a firewall, set up networking, then set up the internet connection .

I looked at . co . nz/howtos . html" target="_blank">nzdsl . co . nz and . ahs-png . org/lintech/linux_hints_tips/ADSL/" target="_blank">www . ahs-png . org which discuss installing my modem (and modems in general) but I don't really understand any of it .

Can anyone give me a few pointers as to where to look or what to do?

Regards,
meee
