| 172153 | 2003-09-01 03:59:00 | My daughters' computer running XP starts itself spontaneously and logs on to the net, I have not had a chance to look at it and see what may be doing it. Anyone else had this problem? |

| 172154 | 2003-09-01 04:05:00 | Do you mean it's turns itself on and logs onto the internet, or you mean it just logs in when the computer is running? If auto dial is on then anything that requests the net will make it dial, so spyware, legit programs like windows updates anything like that will make it dial. Has she got a firewall, antivirus, would pay to have those installed to help monitor what is doing it. |

I thought it was quite neat how it turned the machine off when you closed XP, but I didn't know it worked in reverse. It seems similar to beetle's post on the same page. AV and firewall installed but I have not yet been able to look at it. | Rod ger (316) | ||
