| 172111 | 2003-09-01 03:52:00 | I'll think you should look through the BIOS, make sure RTC is turned off, although I found this useful when the business opens at 8 and you find the computers all switched on ready to be logged in. They actually thought the computers were left on all night racking up a huge power bill. Although I wanted to add instructions to the BIOS to make it not turn on on Sunday, which they were closed but I didn't want to risk destroying the BIOS so I eventually turned it off and had to manually turn the PCs on. Also have a look at anything being monitored, like Wake on Ring and Wake on LAN and wake on anything, like com/lpt ports etc, these can cause your computer to power on. |

| 172113 | 2003-09-01 04:53:00 | Its a stand alone PC, right? No network, does it have a network card? Right click your desktop and go to the Screen Saver tab or go to Sart > Settings > Control Panel and double click the Power Options/Settings icon, go to the Advanced tab and under the Power Buttons if "stand by" is selected in the drop down list for actios when your power button is pushed, change it to Power Off . Yours might bea bit different, I don't have win xp . Hope that works . Cheers Murray P |

Tell them to let the phone ring for at least 20 rings just in case it takes a ring-count to switch it on. If it starts, there's your answer. Cheers Billy 8-{) |
